We sadly say goodbye to our friend, Ryan Shaw.

Yesterday morning, we very sadly lost a member of our Unite The United and Warped Tour family. Ryan Shaw, singer, songwriter and guitar player for The Early Strike, died early Tuesday morning from a rare but aggressive pediatric cancer called DSRCT.

Although he was diagnosed in 2007 with this painful and often debilitating form of cancer, Ryan continued to write, record and perform live. The Early Strike appeared on both the 2009 and 2010 Vans Warped Tour.

Ryan Shaw was just 10 days shy of his 23rd birthday.

Ryan was an amazing human being. He donated much of his time to causes for pediatric cancer awareness and helped us out at Unite The United, logging, photographing, listing and shipping donated items for our charity auctions. He will be deeply missed.

Both Ryan and his band, The Early Strike, were outspoken about the devastation of pediatric cancers, actively organizing events and performing shows to raise funds and awareness to combat this deadly, but often overlooked epidemic. In honor of Ryan’s life and to support the ongoing efforts, in the fight against childhood cancer, Unite The United Foundation has established a fund to be donated to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
